While Xucuogang might not be the most famous wetlands in Taiwan (see Gaomei Wetlands), it’s certainly a great spot for dramatic beachside pictures with wind turbines in the background. It’s a popular place for couples and wedding photographers. Here’s more of the different types of sunsets you might see (Instagram).
This place doesn’t get as crowded as Gaomei, and you have plenty of space to walk around and enjoy the quiet beauty.
Xucuogang is not too far from Taoyuan Airport, but it’s not close to much else. The best and safest way to get there is by driving, and even then, take caution on small, poorly lit roads when returning. The roads in Taoyuan are not for everyone. When I went, dogs chased me for about 10 minutes while driving my scooter.
The roads back to Taipei are windy, not very well-marked, and have multiple 3-1 and 4-1 intersections where you need to be careful for oncoming traffic and cognizant of which road you’re supposed to take.
