Hongludi (烘爐地)

Hongludi is a favorite amongst those who live south of Taipei and/or people with a car or scooter. It’s a temple, but has lots of great viewpoints of the windy mountain road and distant Taipei cityscape.

You can also do the simple hike to Nanshijiao Mountain, which can be done in 30 minutes or so round trip from the Hongludi temple. The mountain viewpoints as well as the platforms at the temple are popular for sunset and night views.

Like I mentioned, because of the nature of this hike, unless you live in that area, public transportation is a bit inconvenient. There is a bus (F512 Sub Line) that you can board at MRT Nanshijiao Station, and it drops you off close to the temple. Other buses (like the 895, 249, and 670) drop you off a 20+ minute walk down the mountain at Hongludi Station.

But with a car or scooter the trip back is a lot quicker.
