Dadaocheng Pier Plaza (大稻埕碼頭廣場)

One of the best places to go for riverside sunset photography in Taipei is Dadaocheng. This place has it all – traditional shops on Dihua Street, boats, lights, and everything a pier has to offer. When the sun goes down, this place gets packed with anyone and everyone waiting for a good chance to see the sun set over the buildings of Sanchong and the docks of Tamsui River.

These riverside parks are great for those who love landscape photography, because there are so many wide angles possible to capture, and the movement, colors, and shapes of people in the foreground adds to the perspective. The bike/walking path along the river, as well as the river itself, and the multiple bridges in the horizon, add more lines and curvature. And of course, the boats add color and waves.

You can walk along the Dadaocheng bike/walking path and see the life along the river as the sun make its way below the horizon. Bike is also a fantastic option.

Dadaocheng is accessible by public transit, but it just requires a bit of a walk from Beimen (1.1 km, 14 minutes) or Main Station. There is also a parking lot at the dock.
