Jingzijiao is a photographer’s haven because it’s got everything: piles of white salt that glisten in the sunlight, some surrounded by pools of water that reflect strikingly at sunset, and the piles lay in a large field aligned in symmetrical rows.
Oh, and all of this is right next to the ocean.
You can walk along the narrow paths cutting through the fields to get different views.
Here, you’ll want to walk around and get shots from all kinds of angles. You can stroll along the narrow paths cutting through the fields. There’s a platform overlooking the fields as well, for a more birds-eye view. The reflections at sunset are truly spectacular, so you won’t want to miss it.
And for a broader view of the sunset, you can walk to Beimen Lagoon at the coast right next to the fields.
The only downside is that no matter where you’re coming from, getting to Jingzijiao essentially requires a long drive through the countryside. The salt fields are in the most northwestern part of Tainan, not far from the southern part of Chiayi, and happen to be nearly equidistant between HSR Chiayi Station and HSR Tainan Station, but not super close to either (both requiring 40+ minutes driving).
Getting back, be careful driving on the country roads when it’s dark!
